Singing is something that comes naturally for Miami native Tekesha Russell. Her mother, Karen Joseph, sang and directed several groups and choirs. But it was her grandmother, Missionary Charlotte Smith, who could be found on the Hammond organ or drums on Sundays, who encouraged her singing. It was she who ensured Tekesha found her place in the church choir.

She currently serves as a psalmist, directress, and praise and worship leader at the Ridgley Ministries Church of God in Christ, where Drs. Herbert and Herldleen Russell, serve as Pastors.

Her freshman project, by far, is her greatest musical accomplishment. Serving as the principal writer on the project and hearing those songs come to life under the direction of Damien Sneed has been a joy. Taking inspiration from her musical influences, such as Take 6, Commissioned, Maurette Brown Clark, and Twyla Paris, among a host of jazz composers and musicians, Tekesha has been able to travel domestically and abroad ministering in song to share her gifts and testimony.

Tekesha is a Godly, straightforward, and sincere artist whose reputation for a consistent life of holiness, praise, and worship lingers with those who have met her. She is a conscientious singer; her sensitivity to the Holy Ghost makes her ministry and personality infectious. This project is a compilation of thoughts and conversations with God, as well as observations of the world around her. Her favorite song on the project is Life Abundantly, as it is the sum total of the impetus behind her upcoming album.
