The Damien Sneed Foundation is a charitable organization committed to global education in the performing arts, providing funding and assistance for the performing artists and performing arts institutions and introducing the public to artists in the wide range of performing arts disciplines which represent and celebrate diversity and international cultural expression.

 

The purpose and vision of the Damien Sneed Foundation's Performing Arts Institute is to educate and empower young people throughout the world in various disciplines of the performing arts (music, dance, drama, art and entrepreneurship) through empowerment, enrichment and career development.

Damien Sneed is a multi-genre recording artist and a 2014 recipient of the prestigious Sphinx Medal of Excellence honor. Sneed has also garnered attention in a wide range of other musical genres, including jazz, gospel, pop, R&B and musical theatre. He has been featured in the New York Times multiple times for his work in various genres. A pianist, organist, conductor, composer, producer, arranger, vocal coach, professor and arts educator, Sneed has worked with legends such as Aretha Franklin, Wynton Marsalis, Jessye Norman, Stevie Wonder, Diana Ross and Ashford & Simpson. And he has served as music director for GRAMMY® Award-winning gospel artists, including The Clark Sisters, Richard Smallwood, Donnie McClurkin, Hezekiah Walker, and others. Sneed was commissioned to compose a new chamber opera titled MARIAN’S SONG about the life of Marian Anderson for Houston Grand Opera, which had its world premiere on March 5, 2020, at the Cullen Theater at the Wortham Center. In addition to MARIAN’S SONG, he was commissioned to compose a symphony in honor of the Tuskegee Airmen with its world premiere in September 2020 at the March on Washington Film Festival in Washington, DC.Sneed recently joined the faculty of the Manhattan School of Music.
